Do you want healthy and radiant skin this summer? When we look after our skin we decrease the look of aging and enhance its appearance and radiance. You can have a positive effect on your skin by making a few simple changes.
Hydrate your Skin
Make sure you are drinking enough water. Not drinking enough water results in dry flaky skin leading to wrinkles, which we want to avoid, especially on the face. It is recommended that we drink 8 glasses of water a day. A huge no-no for your skin is not drinking enough water and keeping it hydrated. This will help give you a radiant, healthy complexion.
Regular Skincare Routine
Focus on a day-to-day routine to help maintain healthy skin and that is adapted to your skin type. Use products that are meant for your skin type and are high in vitamins and nutrients to help nourish, refresh and repair your skin. You will see results in no time after you start a skincare routine and get in the habit of cleaning and moisturizing your skin both in the morning and at night.
A Good Nights Rest
It is called Beauty Sleep for a reason. Your body does its job renewing and restoring skin cells while you are sleeping, helping to prevent wrinkles, aging, dull looking skin and robbing it of its natural glow. Your current skin conditions will worsen if you don’t get enough sleep. You should aim for about 8 hours of restful sleep every night for healthy, radiant skin.
Smoking and excessive drinking can have a negative impact on your skin, aside from being unhealthy in general. Smoking causes poor circulation and decreases oxygen levels in the skin resulting in premature aging and wrinkles. Drinking alcohol dehydrates your skin and we’ve already discussed the importance of keeping your skin hydrated. When you do have that casual drink, stick with those that are clear (vodka, gin, white wine, etc) as they flush out of your system quicker.
Watch What You Eat
We’ve all heard the saying, ‘You are what you eat.’ Foods that are high in sugar are harmful to your skin. A well-balanced diet has positive effects on your skin. Foods that are high in vitamins and antioxidants will decrease signs of aging, repair your skin, and help make it healthy and radiant.
